Education is an essential building block in Afghanistan’s progress toward peace, security and sustainable economic development. Education brings empowerment and enlightenment. We can’t afford to lose another generation to war, conflict, and displacement

Education rates in Afghanistan are significantly lower than those of other countries. In addition, the education system is lacking infrastructure

According to UNICEF, 40 percent of school-aged children in Afghanistan are not enrolled in an educational program. This is due to ongoing advised given, poor access, and lack of funding, as well as persistent barriers for girls in obtaining an education.

Afghanistan has had only rare moments of peace over the past 30 years, its education system being undermined by the Soviet invasion of 1979, a civil war in the 1990s and five years of Taliban rule.
